FAMILY MEDICINE
Family medicine is a medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive individualized care across all age groups, genders, and diseases. The specialist providing such care is called a primary care physician or a family physician.
PREVENTATIVE CARE
The role of preventive/prophylactic care is to apply healthcare measures to prevent diseases. Disease and disability are a consequence of environmental factors, genetic predisposition, and lifestyle choices, and are dynamic processes which begin before individuals realize they are affected. That’s why it is important to have regular checkups.
WOMEN’s WELLNESS EXAM
A women’s wellness medical exam involves a full physical, breast and pelvic cancer screening, blood tests, vaccinations, and relevant clinical counseling, allowing you to make informed decisions about your health.
ACUTE AND CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT
Medical conditions are often categorized as acute or chronic. Examples of acute illnesses are a new infection, flu-like or cold symptoms or a flare up of any chronic disease. Chronic diseases are often long standing (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia etc) and require regular follow ups with your primary care physician for management. If you’re one of the 80% of older adults living with chronic illness, there are treatment options that can help you control your symptoms.
PRE EMPLOYMENT EXAMS
Pre-employment exam is a tool many employers use to ensure that the new employee is healthy and has the physical ability to perform tasks safely and effectively. It also takes note of any prior injuries as well as physical limitations. The purpose of this is to reduce the risk of work related accidents and injuries.
BACK TO SCHOOL PHYSICAL
After a long summer break, preparing for the next school year involves more than just stocking up on school supplies. A full physical and mental wellbeing check is important as well as making sure that the child is up to date with their immunizations.
KIDNEY SPECIFIC CARE
Many chronic illnesses can affect the health of kidneys over time. The kidneys can also be impacted by various prescription and non-prescription drugs, toxins, acute infections as well as environmental factors. A kidney specialist is called a Nephrologist. A Nephrologist can help manage your kidney disease and avoid or reduce the risk of complete kidney failure.
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Increased weight or a high body mass index (BMI >25) can have significant health consequences. It can result in chronic medical conditions, low mobility, disability, and mood disorders. Your physician can help you manage weight with a multifaceted approach including dietary counselling, exercise regimens and medications.
